It feels nice to take a break from racing now and then. Feels nice just to have the sand under my feet, and not dirt. The nice soft sinking sand- Oh, how rude of me. I'm Isa, or, you may know me on the track as Instant Success. Oh yes, that's me- placing second to Fire Dancer in the Summer Cup, then winning against her in the Seaspray Cup. And the best part of this; she got third. I won. My arch nemesis, Paradise Island, placed second. She is a good filly. I try my hardest to beat her... I did. I've already defeated the colt, Lusitania's Soldier, but now it's time to beat his half brother; Euphoria's Warrior. I don't get their relations. Something along the lines of; their mothers are twins, and the mothers mother is the first ever racehorse to set foot on this track. How does that work out? Then you've got the twins, who were bred by the stallion, Akuma Battlecry, to get these two beauty's... oh, tell you something, I'm more beautiful! Today, Alice is trying something a little more exquisite with me. We're going for a beach ride!
"Isa, pack up." The colt pawed at the ground. I was stroking the colts neck. He'd worked well with us lately. In May, he won the May Maiden Dirt, and placed fifth in the Burning Blaze... then we scratched him from the Sapphire Stakes to race him in the Seaspray, where he won... before that, we raced in the Summer Cup, where we placed second to Fire Dancer, who we beat in the Seaspray. They really should become rivals.
It's good to get back in the English saddle every now and then. Isa has never felt anything like this. It's new to him... so, what more than getting him used to it than by taking him down to the beach? We walked along the steady sand track, leading to the large beach. Isa appeared cool. He was wearing a new and stronger bit, and he kept his head in quite well.
Ew, what is this? I've 'never' had anything like this in my mouth. It's different, and it's easier to stop me... what if I don't stop... No, must... not... steal... Miz'... idea...
He walked well, chomping as he went. I smiled and continued to walk him forward. He seemed fine, so I squeezed him gently into a trot, and started to do my bumps, riding when the outside leg went back. I was obsessed with diagonals... and Isa hasn't felt me do bumps yet... oh shi- sugar... that's what I meant... sugar. Let's see how he reacts.
Oh my gosh. What is this? I guess it's all new to me... I mean, come on. I'm two years old... I shouldn't be doing this, should I? I'm a racer, not one of them sad English horses. Come on...
Isa continued to trot like he wasn't bothered about anything. I sat and kicked as he broke into canter. He held his head into his chest, like he was racing, it's what he did. He looked around, ears pricked, and I got him through it. He was fine.
Fine?! Oh dear. I've gotta do something... I don't like this... oh gosh, I'm going to regret this forever... eyes closing...
Isa lowered his head. I didn't know what to expect, did I?! He did a massive buck, and I landed on his neck, gripped on, and finally slid off. Isa slammed his brakes on and I sat up in the soft land and laughed.
Oh crap... wait... she's laughing?! I suppose I better join in.
Isa let out a whinny and nuzzled me. I giggled and stood up, before remounting. "You don't like it, huh? You want to gallop?" Isa pawed the floor.
Yes, YES! I wanna gallop!
I turned Isa, and faced the mile long beach ahead of us. I squeezed him forward, and he leaped forward and galloped along the edge of the water, kicking the water up behind him. I let him go.
Woooooo!
Isa whinnied again, powering along. I pulled him up about half way down the beach and patted him. "Good boy."
Awww.... we're stopping.... oh, thank you. You got a treat for me? Boom. That's what I call victory gallop.
